Each rack is carefully made to your specified design for wood grade and hook choice. If you like a bit of character in your oak with knots and small splits - opt for 'Character grade' oak which has a more country / rustic feel. However if you like a bit more uniformity, opt for the 'Non Character grade'. which has fewer knots and looks more contemporary. But one thing to bear in mind this is natural wood and even the most uniform piece will still show the natural characteristics of wood. The oak wood is finished in natural clear wax to show the beauty of the wood grain.
Please choose where you would like the fixing holes. We would normally conceal the wall fixing holes behind the two outer hooks to allow them to be concealed for aesthetic purpose. (on larger coat racks there will also be a concealed hole behind one of the middle hooks). But this will mean that you will need to be comfortable with a screwdriver, to re - attach the outer hooks - once the rack is successfully attached to the wall. If you do not feel comfortable with this option you can opt for a visible countersunk hole at each end. Alternatively, if you wish to drill your own attachment holes, we can provide the coat rack without any wall fitting holes at all. Its up to you just select the option that is suitable.
With each of the wood sizes we offer, a different number of hooks are available to be fitted. For example on a 70cm wood length, we offer a choice of 3, 4 or 5 hooks - obviously they will all have different clear gaps between the hooks. We recommend gaps of anything between 14 and 25cm between hooks dependant upon what you would like to hang on them......for thick puffy coats - you might find it better to spread the hooks out - and for hanging scarves or aprons in a kitchen you could get away with smaller gaps between hooks of say 13-15cm. It also depends how you hang your garments - by hood or by neck-tag, and what choice of hook you choose ie - with or without ceramic. All things to consider when choosing the length and number of hooks required.
Standard wall fixings are included - but if you are attaching to plasterboard we recommend will need to source suitable fixings for your wall type.
With this coat rack each piece of timber is cut and shaped then each hook is also made to your design specification, therefore we hope you understand why this product has our longest lead time of products range of between 10-14 days.
